He has written two books, Love Is The Drug (Penguin) and Playing At Home (Orion). A third is pending.


He is currently featured on Sky Arts’s Discovering… and Rock Legends series and on Channel 5’s 13 Moments. Previous credits include several episodes of BBC 4’s Timeshift (his contribution to the football documentary, A Game Of Two Eras, was singled out (for praise) by the venerable Nancy Banks-Smith); Most Shocking Moments, BBC News, Sky News and a host of others.

He has appeared on all the BBC’s national radio networks and presented a prog-rock documentary for Radio 4. He was a Sony Radio Awards judge.


He has written scripts of Top Of The Pops 2 and two series of Sky’s The Pop Years.
